    State Legislations

    1. The Maharashtra Resettlement of Project Displaced Persons Act, 1976
      • Enforced from: 12 August 1976.
      • Purpose: First formal Statutory framework for PAP Rehabilitation.
    2. The Maharashtra Project Affected Persons Rehabilitation Act, 1986
      • Enforced from: 23 October 1989.
      • Status: Repealed the 1976 Act.
      • Focus: PAPs in irrigation benefit zones. Rehabilitation of PAPs from effected zones in benefit zones of Irrigation Project.
    3. The Maharashtra Project Affected Persons Rehabilitation Act, 1999
      • Enacted: 14 March 2001.
      • Enforced from: 1 April 2002.
      • Focus: Rehabilitation of PAPs in villages getting benefit of Irrigation Projects, The Provision To Provide all civic Amenities and Rehabilitation of PAPs by the Project Implementing Agency.

    5. The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013
      • Enforced from: 1 January 2014.
      • Provides for fair compensation, transparency, and structured rehabilitation.
      • District Collector designated as Administrator for R&R.
      • Project Implementing Agency to oversee execution.

    Institutional Framework created as per The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

    State-Level

    State Rehabilitation Authority & State Monitoring Committee

    • Reconstituted via GR dated: 09.10.2023.
    • Chairman: Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister (Finance).
    • Vice Chairman: Hon’ble Minister (Relief & Rehabilitation).
    • Commissioner for R&R: Divisional Commissioner supervises and coordinates R&R schemes.

    Rehabilitation & Resettlement Committee

    • Headed by District Collector.
    • Reviews progress and ensures timely execution.

    Redressal Mechanism for Speedy Disposal of Disputes related to Compensation, Rehabilitation, Resettlement.

    2. Disaster-Prone Village Rehabilitation Policy

      • Objective: Permanent relocation of villages/wadis affected by Floods, Landslides and Avalanches.
    3. Civic Amenities to Old Rehabilitated Gaothans.

      • Cabinet Decision: 25.02.2025.
      • Purpose: Address pre-1976 resettlement gaps.
      • Plan: Provide backlog civic amenities to 332 gaothans.
